**Jo In-sung Admits He's "Lost on Looks" to Fellow Actor Lee Jung-jae**
In a candid and humorous interview, acclaimed South Korean actor Jo In-sung confessed that he has, in fact, "lost on looks" to someone before, revealing that the person in question is none other than fellow star Lee Jung-jae. The revelation came during a recent episode of the YouTube channel 'Yoo-tube Ha Ji-young,' titled "Humint National Intelligence Service Black Agent!! Jo In-sung, Funny Yet Handsome, Reveals Stories for the First Time."
The charismatic actor, known for his laid-back demeanor and witty remarks, addressed a range of questions. When asked if he had ever worn shoe lifts, Jo In-sung firmly denied it. He explained, "There weren't many tall actors back then, so I had to spread my legs when acting to create a sense of balance on screen. Why would I need shoe lifts?" he chuckled. He also identified himself as "90% Tet-o" when presented with a choice between "Egg-en-nam" and "Tet-o-nam," though his response was delivered with a characteristic humility rather than boastfulness.
The most intriguing moment arrived when Jo In-sung was prompted about losing on looks. He readily admitted, "I have lost before," before naming Lee Jung-jae. Jo In-sung elaborated, "It's not just about looks, but there are people whose aura just feels incredibly cool." He recalled a dinner with Lee Jung-jae, where he was struck by the actor's stylish demeanor while choosing wine. "I remember telling the person next to me, 'Did you see that? Isn't he so cool?'" Jo In-sung reminisced. He concluded, "I think I've lost in terms of overall aura," a sentiment that spoke volumes of respect rather than rivalry.
Jo In-sung also shared what he considers his most appealing moment: "right after I've washed off my makeup." He humorously added, "My face seems to shine exceptionally at that time. Should I wash it now?" showing off his playful nature. The actor also touched upon the significance of praise from his close senior, Kim Hye-soo, stating that it gives him great strength. He downplayed his own charm, saying, "It's not something I can judge. Relationships and evaluations are always relative." He further emphasized his thoughtful approach to social interactions, noting, "I believe it's polite to keep a distance when the other person doesn't want closeness."
When host Ha Ji-young mentioned Jo In-sung's "deep gaze," he recalled a compliment from Kim Hye-soo. "She sometimes says incredibly kind things, more than I deserve. That's when I gain strength," he shared. However, he admitted, "I don't live my life consciously focusing on that gaze." He attributed the perception of depth to his maturity: "When I was younger, I wanted to possess that depth, but now, as I've aged, I think people see it because of the advantages that naturally came with time."
Jo In-sung also revealed that Kim Hye-soo once observed his "maturity" on set due to his quiet attentiveness to those around him. He responded with characteristic modesty, "When I sense someone's discomfort, I try to think first about what I can do to help."
Meanwhile, Jo In-sung is gearing up for the release of his new film, "Humint," which is set to premiere during the Lunar New Year holiday. The action drama, set in Vladivostok, follows characters with conflicting objectives as they collide. Directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, the film also stars Park Jeong-min, Shin Se-kyung, and Park Hae-joon.
