Netflix broadcasts this performance live around the world. Big Hit Music, the agency, announced on the 3rd, “BTS will hold ‘BTS Comeback Live: Arirang’ at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21st at 8 PM.” He added, “This performance was prepared to commemorate the release of a new album of the same name,” adding, “It is more meaningful in that the performance of new songs, including the title song, will be performed for the first time at Gwanghwamun Square, one of Korea’s representative spaces.” This is the first time that a singer holds a solo performance at Gwanghwamun Square. Previously, BTS performed on stage with Geunjeongjeon and Gyeonghoeru at Gyeongbokgung Palace as one of the special weekly projects ‘BTS Week’ of the popular program ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on NBC in the US in 2020. A total of 14 songs will be included in the 5th full-length album ‘Arirang’, which will be released on March 20th. Big Hit Music said, “The new album ‘Arirang’ is an album that contains the starting point and identity of BTS and the emotions they want to convey now,” and “As the word ‘Arirang’ has a symbolic meaning, we wanted to set up the first stage in a space that represents Korea,” and explained the reason for choosing Gwanghwamun Square as the comeback stage. Netflix will broadcast the comeback performance live exclusively to viewers in over 190 countries around the world. This is also the first live event that Netflix broadcasts from Korea to the world. Netflix will also release a feature-length documentary, ‘BTS: The Return,’ which covers the production process of the ‘Arirang’ album, on the 27th of next month. It depicts the process of BTS members, who were discharged from the military, coming together in Los Angeles, USA to create music. Netflix said that the members, who have returned to a common creative space after a period of personal change, will be able to experience moments of contemplation of ‘how to start again’ and ‘how to move forward while honoring the past and at the same time not being tied down.’ Reporter Kim Min-je summer@hani.co.kr
