[Resale and database prohibited] (Los Angeles = Yonhap News) Correspondent Mina Lim = A film made by Korean pop star Anderson Pack (39), depicting the Korean culture that is part of his roots and the stories of Koreans in the United States, will be released in the United States at the end of this month. According to the Los Angeles (LA) Korean Festival Foundation on the 2nd (local time), the family comedy film ‘K-POPS!’ produced and directed by Anders Pack will be released across the United States. This film depicts the Korean community, which has grown into one of the major multicultural organizations in the United States, and incorporates Korean culture, music, and identity, according to the LA Korean Festival Foundation. It tells the story of a musician from LA who moves to Korea to revive his career and discovers that his son, whom he had not known for a long time, is on his way to becoming a K-pop superstar. Anderson Pack, known by the nickname 'Milyang Park', is a pop star who is more familiar to Korean fans because his mother is Korean-American. He also married a Korean woman he met while teaching at a music school and started a family. He has demonstrated outstanding musical ability by working in various fields, including as a singer-songwriter, rapper, and music producer, and has especially achieved great success with the R&B project team 'Silk Sonic' formed with pop star Bruno Mars. Silk Sonic's single 'Leave the Door Open' won four awards, including 'Record of the Year' and 'Song of the Year' at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Including this, Anderson Pack has received a total of 9 awards at the Grammys. He also explained, “It took over five years to make, but it is even more special because I was able to make the film with my son, Soul Rashid, and with my closest friends,” and added, “I wanted this film to convey a message about knowing one’s roots and history, and how important it is to move forward into the future.” This film features cameo appearances by major K-pop artists including Vernon, Crush, The Rose, Jessie, and G-Dragon. The original music was composed by Anderson Pack and Dam Jontz. “I hope more films like this are produced that showcase Korean culture and reflect the growing Korean population around the world,” said Alex Cha, president of the Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation.
